Loch Ness Monster

What is the Loch Ness Monster?

The creature known as the "Loch Ness Monster" or "Nessie" is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highland. It's described as large, long-necked and with one or more humps that protrude from the water. The first recorded sighting was by Saint Columba in 565. It was brought to worldwide attention 1933 and has captured the world's curiosity since then.

Are these sightings aa combination of hoaxes, wishful thinking and the misidentification of mundane objects or is there some unknown creature lurking under the dark water of the Loch?
